Harley-Davidson has sold its 531-acre private test track in Florida to the Chrysler Group for $7 million. The property, located off of Interstate 75 in Naples, Fla., includes six miles of track including a 2.1-mile straightaway and several buildings.

The track was originally built for Ford, with construction completed in 1992. Harley-Davidson purchased the track in 2002 for $6.5 million, but the track had been left mostly idle since Harley-Davidson moved its testing operations to a portion of a Chrysler-owned track in Kingman, Ariz., in 2008.

The Business Observer reports Harley-Davidson will lease a portion of the Florida track and 10,200 square feet of office space until June 30, 2019. Continue Reading »

Motorcycle tour operator EagleRider is launching a new program for non-riders. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, EagleRider offers motorcycle rentals and guided motorcycle tours. Until now however, you had to have a motorcycle license or ride as a passenger with another traveler who does.

The new Pillion Ride & Day Tours programs puts people on the passenger seat behind Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified tour guides who will show them the sights. As of now, the Pillion Ride & Day Tours are only offered from EagleRider’s Florida locations but the company plans to offer the program to other locations in the future. Continue Reading »

A 65-year-old man from Windsor, Ontario, Canada is attempting a cross-continent ride from Key West, Fla., to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and back, on a Honda CBR125R.

Bob Munden of Windsor is attempting to set the record for the smallest motorcycle to make the trip from the southernmost accessible point in North America to the northernmost point, and back. A print shop owner with a stable of five motorcycles, Munden will attempt the trip on the 124.7cc single-cylinder four-stroke Honda CBR125R, an entry-level sportbike model Honda offers in Canada.
