High Speeds and Heady Thrills Planned for 17th Anniversary of Gettysburg Bike Week

American Motor Drome Co. Wall of Death Booked for GBW 2018

Gettysburg, PA (April 15, 2018) – Back in style at the Allstar Events Complex, Gettysburg Bike Week looks to celebrate its 17th year with the high-flying, death-defying spectacle that is the American Motor Drome Co.’s Wall of Death.

A giant silo-shaped cylinder 30 feet in diameter with 15-feet-high wooden-plank walls, the vintage live-action thrill show that is the Wall of Death serves as a cyclone of mayhem wherein motorcycle daredevils drive century-old Indian and Harley-Davidson motorcycles at high speed round and round, parallel to the ground, climbing the walls, performing stunts, inching toward an audience perched right above the action.

Star rider Charlie Ransom is back for his 14th year riding the Wall of Death on a 100-year-old Indian motorcycle. Attendees can plan on seeing him snatch money from the hands of spectators as he races around the top of the cylinder, beset by g-forces, mere inches from an awed audience.

“Right time, right place, I guess,” said Ransom when asked how he hooked up with the American Motor Drome Co. thrill show. “What can I say? I love my job.”

In addition to Wall of Death performances each day of the rally, musical festivities kick off on the S.S. Vape Stage on Thursday night and will continue through the weekend with national headliners each night.

Gettysburg Bike Week’s official lodging sponsor, the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center, is conveniently located right next door to where all the action takes place at the Allstar Events Complex. Additional acts and shows are still being booked, and patrons can look forward to a wide array of music and motorcycle-related activities, shows and demos.

And, of course, no rally would be complete without great riding, and Gettysburg has some of the best. Whether riders want to see historic battlegrounds or just hit the road for a great cruise, hundreds of miles of the best riding in the East surrounds Gettysburg.
