Brammo has formed a strategic partnership with Minnesota-based drivetrain manufacturer Team Industries that will see the two companies work on developing new drivetrains for electric vehicles. As part of their arrangement, Team Industries will also become an investor in Brammo.

Team Industries produces electric drivetrains as well as continuously variable transmissions, four-wheel drive systems, axles, transmissions and transaxles for other OEMs.

“The electric vehicle market is a growth market and Team and Brammo will be providing a wide range of solutions for OEM manufacturers.” says David Ricke, president and chief executive officer of Team, “Brammo has developed motorcycle race winning EV technology and we will be partnering with them to bring this technology to adjacent markets.”

Team also has a long history with fellow Minnesota company Polaris Industries, developing clutches in the ’60s and designing transmissions for Polaris ATVs in the ’80s. In 2011, Team was inducted into Polaris’ Hall of Fame for its longtime contributions to the company. Polaris, incidentally, is also a minority investor in Brammo, so it may be reasonable to expect some of the fruits of this Brammo-Team partnership may include electric drivetrains for Polaris.

“It is critical to our success that we continue to build our strong reputation for quality and innovation,” says Craig Bramscher, CEO and founder of Brammo, Inc. “Team Industries has an outstanding track record of developing and delivering performance and reliability enhancing drive train components to OEMs. We are very excited to work with Team to create a broad range of EV drivetrain solutions for diverse markets around the world.”
