WERA And Michelin Strengthen Relationship In 2014
A long-time sponsor within WERA motorcycle road racing, Michelin is taking its support one step further in 2014 by becoming title sponsor to the WERA Superbike Class at the WERA National Challenge Series in 2014. The class will be called Michelin/WERA Superbike.
With many professional racing organizations around the world instituting a spec-tire rule for all classes (Dunlop in AMA, Pirelli in WSBK), the opportunities for Michelin to test its products has been slim. Turning to what is considered arguably the highest level of amateur road racing in America seems like a logical place to play. The competition is still fierce, with many in the series graduating to the professional ranks when able. This level of talent is sure to provide Michelin with accurate feedback.
Robert Walker, Michelin Motorcycle Sales & Racing Manager added, “Racing is a key strategic initiative for many of our business units, including our motorcycle business. It provides a great platform to prove our performance against the competition. WERA Racing brings together racers and consumers passionate about their bikes and particular about the equipment that goes on them. We are happy to continue our partnership with WERA and this year in the Superbike class at the National Challenge Series which helps us engage with these important market segments.”
