The famous Nurburgring is known as one of the most dangerous racetracks in the world. With its high speed nature, mixed with a couple tight turns that can throw off the best pilots, it takes a brave soul to pilot a vehicle there at speed. Oh, and don’t forget the guardrails – they’re awfully close to the track. Making matters even more precarious is the fact that cars and motorcycles are allowed on the course at the same time. So not only do you have to worry about the track, you also have to worry about not getting hit by a young buck in a Porsche. That said, get it right and the Nurburgring Nordschleife is an absolute thrill to experience. Get it wrong and you’ll be crying all the way home – if you’re lucky.

See David Monaghan have the save of the year (so far) on his 2017 BMW S1000RR in the skidmark inducing clip. David goes for a pass at 105 MPH when a car neglects to check its mirrors at the legendary Nurburgring, sending David and his cantaloupe sized jewels off road, narrowly avoiding the guard rails. Good save David, and be safe out there!

Ah, the year 2007 was a momentous one, marking my arrival at Motorcycle.com after years toiling at other publications. I was headhunted from another dot-com to lead the charge at MO, which was newly under the auspices of Verticalscope.

All motorcyclists dream of riding in exotic locales. That longing, it’s in our blood. Sometimes we see movies like Long Way Round/Down and think, “I’d love to ride there.” Other times we’ll see a beautiful landscape or glorious stretch of road while flipping through our favorite magazines or watching some movie or television show, and fantasize wistfully about what it would be like to be one with nature in that locale – with a motorcycle between our legs, of course.
