Alpinestars revealed its latest high-performance racing helmet, the all-new Supertech R10, a culmination of more than a decade of research and development.

The result of years of development, including testing by former MotoGP racer Andrea Dovizioso, the Supertech R10 was designed to offer a balance of comfort, ventilation and light weight, as well as optimal aerodynamic stability and reduced drag.

The Supertech R10 is homologated to DOT, FIM, and ECE 22.06 standards. The outer shell combines an advanced molding technology and a multi-composite combination of four layers. A 3K high-density carbon outer layer provides strength and efficient energy dissipation. A uni-directional carbon composite layer adds radial strength to prevent compression while still reducing transmitted impact energy. Aramid fiber and fiberglass layers provide penetration protection.

The interior shell is made of EPS in six different densities to strategically absorb impact forces while providing a good fit. For better linear and oblique force management, the EPS liner has a low-friction inner surface, allowing the comfort liner to move against the EPS.

The R10 is available in four different EPS liner sizes, ensuring a good fit for different head sizes and shapes. The EPS liner is also fitted with Alpinestars’ A-Head Fitment System, allowing for fine tuning of the helmet height, and forward/backward tilt angle.

Alpinestars used wind tunnel and track testing, as well as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing to minimize drag and maximize stability. The helmet’s aerodynamic spoilers are designed to detach when subjected to a strong impact, to prevent them from catching and adding further rotational energy in a crash.

The Supertech R10 offers 11 ventilation points, with 3 intakes in the chinguard and 4 on the top, plus four exhaust vents (two at the rear and another two lateral ports on the chinguard.)

The eyeport is designed to offer 220° of lateral and 57° of vertical visibility to provide a large viewing window. The shield mechanism has metal locks to keep the shield in place during a crash.

Other features include removable and washable anit-microbial linings, and a raised chin bar bottom profile with a softer liner and flexible rubber compound to reduce the risk of collarbone injury. Alpinestars claims a weight of 3.4 pounds for the medium size.

The Alpinestars Supertech R10 Helmet will be offered in 6 sizes, from XS to 2XL, in three solid colorways (black carbon matte and glossy, white glossy, and matte black) and four graphic options (racing inspired TEAM graphic in black carb on/red/white glossy or black carbon/red fluo/dark blue matte, and the minimalist heritage ELEMENT graphic in black carbon/bright red/white glossy, or black carbon/silver/black glossy).
