The Ducati Superleggera V4 is nearly ready for production after completing one of its final hurdles. Ducati Chief Executive Officer Claudio Domenicali tweeted a photo of the final pre-production model on Friday before it heads to its final quality check.

Week 3 after restart is almost finished. Dreams are now becoming real: this is last pre production Superleggera ready to move to Nardo for final quality check. No other road homolgated bike is even close: 224 HP for 159 Kg dry weight. A real dream for any passionate biker! pic.twitter.com/dxbIoMWKU9

Once that’s completed, Ducati can begin producing the limited run of 500 units of the carbon chassis Superleggera V4. Domenicali later confirmed in the Twitter thread that unit 001 is to be on the production line on May 21.

The development comes nearly three weeks after Ducati re-opened its factory on April 27 following a six-week halt in production due to the novel coronavirus. Ducati has added several precautions to protect its workers, including making masks mandatory and switching shift hours. Ducati initially planned to deliver five Superleggera V4 models per day beginning in June, but the timeline has likely changed since then.

Domenicali also tweeted saying Ducati hopes to produce Streetfighter V4 models per day by the end of the month.

Kevin SF is our top priority. We are still ramping up but we will be at 100 SF/day by the end of the month therefore we will be able to deliver all bikes before summer even if even now SF is the most ordered product of our portfolio. We are also working on Saturday!
