It’s official, the two-time Moto2 Champ Frenchman leaves the Tech 3 Yamaha satellite team after 2018 for a full factory Red Bull KTM ride. Marco, who’s tied for fourth in MotoGP points now, replaces British racer Bradley Smith, and will team at KTM with Pol Espargaró. Things seem to be going to plan for KTM, who started racing MotoGP last season, and whose machine is steadily improving.

“We had to trust in our capability to build a winning bike and Johann would not come over if he did not see and feel that trust,” said KTM motorsports director Pit Beirer in a statement at the Spanish Grand Prix on Thursday according to Reuters.

“We feel very responsible now to get that package strong enough so that he can continue on the level where he is. It is our big target.

“Johann beating the factory guys on satellite machinery and consistently qualifying on the front row means he is a strong fighter with a strong sprit. I’m convinced we can reach the next level with a rider like Johann with us.”

“My career will continue where everything began, from RedBull Rookies Cup to the conquest of the MotoGP title. You understand it, I join KTM Factory Racing for the next two years. I’m very happy to ride this KTM, which we have the same ambitions: Ready to race!,” says Zarco on his Facebook page.
