Kudos to Yamaha. Not only did it offer a free motorcycle in its “R1S Urban Ops Sweepstakes, Yamaha is also providing the winner (Erika Helminiak, an ATV enthusiast) with free rider training through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and local dealer Pony Powersports is also providing free MSF rider training for Helminiak’s fiance. Nice to see Yamaha invest resources into the safety of its customers.

Yamaha Announces “R1S Urban Ops Sweepstakes” Winner Ohio Woman Awarded Customized, One-Of-A-Kind Yamaha YZF-R1S Motorcycle

Cypress, CA – September 12, 2017 – Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. (YMUS), today announced the winner of the “R1S Urban Ops Sweepstakes.” In a random drawing from all entries received, Yamaha selected Erika Helminiak of Grove City, Ohio, as the winner of the one-of-a-kind 2016 Yamaha YZF-R1S, which is tricked out with a complete assortment of Genuine Yamaha Accessories, special graphics, custom lighting, and select aftermarket upgrades, including three sets of Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires.

The Urban Ops R1S was presented to Erica and her fiancé Gary Thompson at Pony Powersports in Westerville, Ohio, by Shawn Alexander, District Manager for YMUS, and Frank Lark, Vice President of Marketing for Pony Powersports Group.

Erica is a 26-year-old mother of two. She enjoys ATV riding with her family, and she said, “I’ve never won anything before, and I couldn’t believe when the phone rang, and they told me I’d won the motorcycle! My fiancé Gary and I enjoy riding four-wheelers, and we’re looking forward to riding my new Urban Ops Yamaha R1S.”

In addition to the new bike, Yamaha is providing Erica with free rider training through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and Pony Powersports is also providing free MSF rider training for Gary.
