2017 MOTOCROSS SEASON HITS THE HOME STRETCH

As the 2017 Motocross season heads into the last few events of the year, one thing is clear: Dunlop riders will win both the 250 and 450 titles. No rider on a competitive tire is even close. Winning the 2017 titles means Dunlop’s Geomax series of tires have won every AMA Pro Motocross title since 2010—that’s 16 championships in a row. In 2017, Dunlop riders won every moto; that makes this year the sixth season Geomax tires have swept every single moto in both classes, amassing 379 moto wins and extending Dunlop’s record of owning more AMA Pro motocross titles than all other tire companies combined.

Two clear favorites have emerged in both the 250 and 450 classes this year. Team Dunlop alumni Eli Tomac has scored eight overall wins, including a devastating run of five consecutive victories that saw him surge into the points lead. Blake Baggett—another Team Dunlop alumni—is currently second in the title hunt, and posted a remarkable fifth overall at Washougal despite a badly injured thumb rumored to ultimately require surgery. KTM’s Marvin Musquin, who swept both motos at Washougal, is third in the championship, 54 points adrift of Tomac. In the 250 chase, Zack Osborne jumped to an early season lead with back-to-back victories before the Martin brothers—Alex and Jeremy—traded wins. Two other Team Dunlop alumni —Joey Savatgy and Aaron Plessinger—also topped the podium and currently sit in 4th and 7th respectively in the title chase. With a 74-point lead over second place Jeremy Martin, Osborne is going to be tough to stop before season’s end.
