Irish racer Alan Bonner, 33, has become the third racer to die at the 2017 Isle of Man TT, his death coming hours after Dutch racer Jochem van der Hoek died and less than a day after British racer Davey Lambert succumbed to injuries from an earlier crash.

Bonner crashed at the 33rd milestone during a qualifying session for the Senior TT. Earlier in the day, Bonner had raced in the Superstock TT, finishing 30th.

A resident of County Meath, Ireland, Bonner has been competing in the Isle of Man TT since 2015. His best ever result was 15th, achieved in the 2015 Senior TT. Bonner also holds the record for the fastest lap ever recorded by a rider from the Republic of Ireland, recording a 127.090 mph lap in 2015.

Bonner is survived by his partner Gemma.
