It’s National Bike Month and Strider Bikes Still Trump Tricycles

10 years & 1.6 Million Bikes Sold; S.D. Gov Proclaims May 9 World Strider Day

May is National Bike Month, and since 2007, Strider Balance Bikes have trumped tricycles as the best way to teach toddlers to ride. Strider Sports, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, is celebrating 10 years in business and over 1.6 million Strider Bikes sold with several global consumer contests and the designation of Tuesday, May 9 as World Strider Day.

The Governor of South Dakota, Dennis Daugaard, has proclaimed May 9 as World Strider Day to recognize the importance of inspiring healthy activities for very young children. In the Proclamation, the Governor also cites Strider’s contribution to teaching children as young as 18 months how to ride on two wheeled bicycles. The Strider Story video shares how and why Strider Bikes have changed lives: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKtL8a4IvX8.

Strider distributors in over 75 countries are encouraging Strider Bike riding families to submit photos of young children riding Strider Bikes, using #WorldStriderDay on Instagram and Twitter. Strider Sports is encouraging fans to check out its Facebook Page prior to May 9 to learn how they can win one of ten Limited Edition Gold 10th Anniversary STRIDER 12 Custom Balance Bikes to help celebrate this special day and year.

May 9 was selected because it is the birthday of Bode McFarland, the son of founder and company President, Ryan McFarland and “original Strider Bike rider”.

Additional contests and celebrations are planned throughout 2017, including a Birthday Bash on August 26 in Main Street Square, Rapid City, S.D. Continue to watch Strider’s Facebook Page throughout the year for more opportunities to win Strider gear and to participate in fun events.
