Southwestern Idaho Desert Racing Association charters with the American Motorcyclist Association

Full SIDRA schedule will be sanctioned by the AMA

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The Southwestern Idaho Desert Racing Association has chartered with the American Motorcyclist Association for the 2017 racing season, and the organization’s events will be AMA-sanctioned.

“We at SIDRA are excited to be partnering with the American Motorcyclist Association for 2017 and future racing seasons,” SIDRA President Jeff Miller said. “We feel that an AMA charter adds a level of creditability to our series. With our clubs putting on national races like two National Hare and Hound events, and the premier ISDE qualifier, the Idaho City 100, it only seemed natural to give the rest of the series the same level of attention.”

Southwestern Idaho will host two rounds of the KENDA/SRT AMA National Hare and Hound Championship series, as well as Round 2 of the AMA ISDE West Qualifier series in Payette, Idaho, during the year.

While there is excellent AMA representation on the West Coast, the American Motorcyclist Association is seeking more partners in the Northwest Region. With the addition of SIDRA, there will be a much stronger AMA presence in the region for 2017.

“Hailing from the West Coast myself and having raced in Idaho for many years, I’m really glad to have this group on board,” Kudla said. “The motorcyclists in the Pacific Northwest are top notch when it comes to racing and riding rights, so it’s a tremendous opportunity to team up with them and strengthen the region.”

Idaho also plays a pivotal role in western land-use issues with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

“With growing issues around land use, SIDRA feels that the American Motorcyclist Association can help us in addressing these topics — sage grouse, deer migration and wild horses being at the forefront,” Miller said. “We feel the direction and assistance the American Motorcyclist Association can provide will better help us in addressing these challenges.”

The nine-round series will begin in March.
