Press Release from Dainese: Dainese will exhibit for the first time at the 49th annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), scheduled for January 5-8 in Las Vegas. The iconic Italian brand, the innovation leader in protective apparel for motorcycling, mountain biking, winter sports and equestrian use, will be showcasing its collection of D-air garments at the show, which in 2016 drew 177,293 attendees from around the world.

Dainese’s participation in CES, organized by the Consumer Technology Association and typically associated with software and electronic gadgets, follows the company’s commitment to fostering the adoption of D-air, its groundbreaking wearable airbag technology, which the company has pioneered for action-sports applications. D-air products are used by top motorcycle road racers in the MotoGP World Championship (the Formula 1 of the two-wheel world), as well as leading athletes in the Alpine Skiing World Cup Series. The stand-alone, wireless D-air platform uses high-tech electronic sensors housed inside the suit’s aerodynamic back hump or in a back protector, along with an advanced algorithm. Together, these features constitute the brain and true intelligence of the system, which recognizes an impending crash and in milliseconds deploys the airbag, the heart of the platform. Thanks to a patented internal structure made of microfilaments, the airbag deploys in a controlled shape over its full length and wraps around the rider’s body, shielding it well before impact. Depending on the model, covered areas include combinations of the neck, shoulders, collarbones, lower ribs, chest and back. The system is homologated by respected independent certification bodies, and 35 patents have been filed.

“We’re very excited to showcase our D-air technology at CES,” said Roberto Sadowsky, Dainese USA Executive Vice President. “D-air products are already making big waves in the action-sports world, where they successfully protect athletes from injury on a regular basis. We are pleased to share the story of our company’s leadership in airbag technology with a more mainstream audience. CES is a great platform for accomplishing that goal, and we look forward to participating.”
