Press Release from Bell Helmets: What better way to top off the season (although you already captured the championship) than by winning the final round of the series. Welcome to Kailub Russell’s world! The Ironman GNCC was already a classic but this weekend’s event drew a staggering 2,400 entries over the course of two days. Bell Helmets’ Russell once again put his Moto-9 Flex on top of the podium and earned his 40th career overall win.

The victory didn’t come easily as Russell battled with Thad Duvall the entire day. “The fans just make this race an awesome experience,” said Russell. “I had a great day riding with Thad. I haven’t ridden for a week and a half so it made it a tough day, but it’s unbelievable that I was able to capture my 40th career overall win today.”

In the XC2 class, it was Coastal Racing’s Layne Michael who took the overall podium position wearing his Moto-9 Flex. Hot off his ISDE Gold Medal championship team performance, Michael had this to say; “I just tried to get to the front and ride like I know I can. I had a small crash on the first lap but regrouped and kept going. The year didn’t start out that great, but it feels great to come back after the summer break and get these results.”
