2014-2016 Aprilia Tuono and Caponord Recalled for Faulty Master Cylinders

Aprilia is recalling certain Tuono and Caponord models because the front brake master cylinders may allow air into the hydraulic circuit, reducing braking performance. The models affected include the 2014-2015 Tuono V4 1000, the 2016 Tuono V4 1100, the 2015 Caponord 1200 with ABS and Aprilia Dynamic Dampening (ADD) and the 2016 Caponord 1200 Rally. A total of 1,628 motorcycles are affected in the U.S.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Brembo master cylinders were not produced to Aprilia’s standards and may have defective hydraulic circuits. As a result, the actuating rod and cap could, under certain conditions, allow air into the circuit, increasing braking distance.

Aprilia dealers will replace the front master cylinder pushrod and boot assembly with new components that were built to the required standard. The repair should take about 25 minutes to complete.
