On September 24th in Scottsdale, Arizona Alta Motors earned their first national race victory with Kurt Nicoll at Round 4 of the EnduroCross series in the vet class. The win is a first for Alta on the national level, and the first for an electric motorcycle in the EnduroCross series.

As a relatively young company, Alta Motors has been developing their Redshift electric motorcycle platform since 2010 and only just began serial production in 2016 of the Redshift MX. The decision to compete in EnduroCross with Kurt Nicoll came about as a growing recognition of the advantages that the electric drive Redshift delivers; finer throttle control, better traction, and the consistent delivery of peak torque from 0-35mph of its 65mph top speed. This is all happens without a clutch or traditional transmission, freeing the rider to concentrate on riding the course and not the bike. “I don’t miss having a clutch, the main advantage the Alta has over the gas bike is that the power is absolutely instant, and when you’re stuck in the rocks or the matrix, you need that power,” says Kurt Nicoll.

With this first national win, and being the first electric motorcycle to win an EnduroCross, Alta Motor’s CEO Marc Fenigstein is overjoyed, and looking forward to more competition in 2016 and beyond. “We’re grateful to Kurt for believing in our program and giving us our first national victory. We’ve always known what the Redshift’s strengths were but now we’re honing in on the competitions that can amplify these strengths and exhibit them for motorsports fans around the world—stay tuned for more!”

Alta plans to continue their EnduroCross competition this coming week at Round 5 of the series at the National Western Events Center in Denver, Colorado and then at the series finale on November 19th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
