Energica Drag Races A Superbike And A Supercar

We’ve seen videos of Tesla electric cars decimating several different internal combustion challengers down the quarter-mile, but less common are videos of electric motorcycles drag racing the competition. Which makes this video pretty interesting.

In it we have the Energica Ego electric motorcycle, which boasts 136 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque, the latter figure a stunning number for any two-wheeler. To see how it would do against its gas-powered counterparts, the Pedercini World Superbike team brought out its WSBK-spec Kawasaki ZX-10R and a stock ZX-10R. Then, for kicks, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570 Super Trofeo lines up alongside the Energica.

As expected, off the line the electric jumps to the holeshot against all of its competitors. But what happens after that? See the video below to find out.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
