NHDRO Summer Celebration And Big Money ET Throwdown

Press Release from NHDRO: The Midwest’s largest motorcycle drag racing series is putting on what might be the world’s most lucrative motorcycle bracket race. Brian and Niki Welch are excited to announce the NHDRO Summer Celebration and BIG MONEY ET Throwdown on the quarter mile at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Indiana on August 5-7.

NHDRO is paying (at least!) a whopping $5,000 to win in MPS Pro ET and $3,000 to win in Kevin Dennis Insurance Street ET, with only a $10 increase in entry fee. Quicktime Motorsports is kicking in a free Shinko tire to winners and runner-ups in both classes.

But wait, there’s more! NHDRO will give free space on the midway to any vendor that contributes $250 or more to make these purses even larger. “Let’s shoot for $10,000 and $5,000!” said Brian Welch, who hopes to make these the largest bracket purses in motorcycle drag racing history.

Which all means that NHDRO’s bracket regulars will have to fight off a slew of Big Money-seeking invaders. John “Spooky” Markham, Wes Brown and his GSXR of Renown, Larry Hunter, Eric Cooper, Joe “Back On” Deck, Ronnie Woodall Jr., Danny Miller, Ron “Jiu-Jitsu” Arnold, Stephen Knight, Dustin “Biscuits” Lee, Bruce Damewood, Chad Isley, Brandon and Jeremy Teasley, and many more will be clawing for NHDRO’s cash.

Most of these riders will also be racing NHDRO index classes. Lee holds a 14 point lead over Markham in Millennium Trailers Super Comp, but trails Arnold by only 6 points in Route 21 Street Fighter. Daniel Raduenz’s Motorcycle House Crazy 8s lead is even tighter—only 5 points ahead of Brown. Multi-time G&G Metal Spinners Top Gas champ Greg Mallett is once again controlling that throne with a 27 point lead over hard-charging Heather Baldi.

With two straight wins, Jeff Lindeman has a 51 point lead over Chase Morris in the class that bears Jeff’s name—Quicktime Motorsports/Lindeman Performance Pro Ultra 4.60, the world’s quickest two-wheeled index class.

Pro classes will get to stretch back out over the quarter mile after only having the eighth to work with last time out in Louisville, and Mark Paquette will see if he can stretch his McIntosh Machine & Fabrication Pro Street win streak to four. The Michigan racer and his turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa are on a high speed, 6.70s roll.

But it was Paquette’s teammate Bud Yoder—the defending Pro Street champion—who went to the final at the recent Man Cup race in Memphis, where he then retired with a broken motor.

Rudy Sanzottera and his Quicktime Motorsports turbo ‘Busa, Indy homeboy Justin Doucet, surprise Louisville finalist Brandon Coley, “Mohug” Doug Gall, “Starting Center” Gabe Fredrick and more will all be punching gears and dashing fears on the Indy 1320.

HMH Motorsports Coatings Pro Open will be back in big-tire boiling action with Chris Cutsinger, Marty “Pops” Sanzottera, the expected return of Ron Maddox and Charlie Theiss, and Louisville’s Deshaun Wheeler.

Expect grudge racing to be off the hook in Indy, where the crowd is always partying on the starting line as bikes like the MSP-built “Venom” make laps, trash talkers’ lips flap, and cash gets put on the line for pride and glory.
