Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin captured 2nd overall on Saturday at Round 8 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Millville, Minnesota. Musquin’s teammate, Dean Wilson, made his return back to racing after injuring his knee five months ago, finishing 11th overall for the day.

Moto 1
In 450 Class Moto 1, Marvin Musquin got a mid-pack jump off the start but quickly vaulted his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION into a top-five position on the opening lap. It didn’t take long for Musquin to charge past Justin Barcia and move into 3rd place as he then set his sights on the leaders ahead.

Musquin made a big charge toward Eli Tomac for the 2nd place position where he came within striking distance many times late in the race. With a hard-fought performance, Musquin ultimately finished 3rd place in Moto 1.

Dean Wilson didn’t get a favorable jump off the line, where he began the race in the 13th place position. Wilson made moves early on to jump into the 11th place position where he battled back and forth for a top-ten spot.

Moto 2
In 450 Class Moto 2, Musquin shot off the line to capture the holeshot and a big lead over the rest of the field. The 450 Class Rookie battled with Ken Roczen for the lead position early on, where Roczen overtook the lead on lap two. Musquin continued to charge hard toward the leader, where he laid the fastest lap time of the race on lap six.

Musquin went on to finish 2nd place in Moto 2, matching his career-best moto finish from Round 4 earlier in the season. With an impressive moto score of 3-2, Musquin secured 2nd overall for the day.

“Today was the day to do two good motos,” Musquin said. “I love this track and we made some changes to the bike that shows to be in the right direction. We always try to get better and it feels good to be able to ride the bike and feel comfortable to ride the way I know how.”

Musquin now sits 3rd in the 450 Class Championship Standings with four rounds remaining in the season.

Wilson grabbed a top-ten position off the start where he engaged in a multi-rider battle throughout the first half of the race. After swapping positions back-and-forth, Wilson ultimately finished 11th place in Moto 2 in his first race back in five months.

Wilson is set to compete in the remainder of the 2016 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

Mitchell Oldenburg represents Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM at Spring Creek MX Park
With the rest of his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM teammates recuperating from injury, Mitchell Oldenburg was the sole representation for the team at the often-treacherous Spring Creek MX Park circuit. He rode with intensity both motos to earn a 13-14 moto score, good enough for 15th overall.

About an hour south of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the riders were treated to unusually pleasant weather conditions with minimal humidity. In the first moto, Oldenburg rocketed his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to a second-place start and tried to settle in to the quick pace up front. He did his best to clock in a good finish, and was able to record 13th.

In the second moto, he got another solid start but a bit further back in the pack around 10th. The track was extremely rutted and challenging for the whole 30 minutes plus two laps and Oldenburg grabbed 14th, which gave him an overall score of 15th.

Before the team gets two weekends off, they will head to the Pacific Northwest stop outside Portland, Oregon for Round 9 at Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington.
