The American Motorcyclist Association is reminding racers that they must pre-register for the off-road competition at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days by midnight July 3 to get the cheaper pre-entry rate.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will feature vintage and post-vintage hare scrambles, motocross, dirt-track, trials, mini road racing and road racing July 8-10 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The off-road portion of the event, the Moto Armory AMA Off-Road Vintage Grand Championship, crowns national champions in vintage and post-vintage classes, while the dirt-track competition, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance, is a round of the AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series.

“Whether they’re competing for bragging rights or national titles, each year hundreds of racers participate in the racing during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days,” said AMA Chief Operations Officer Jeff Massey. “For those planning to attend, pre-register early not only to cut down on race-day lines but to save yourself a few bucks as well.”

Competitors may register now at https://secure.tracksideonlineresults.com/amavintage/. Registration for all events will also be available at the track for $10 more than the pre-entry fee.

The road racing portion of the event is managed by WERA. Pre-entry for July 8 road racing practice closes July 2 at midnight. Pre-entry for July 9 competition closes July 3 at midnight. Pre-entry for July 10 competition closes July 4 at midnight. Racers can enter at the event, as well. Road racing information is available here: http://maps.wera.com/pdfs/2008Schedules/vmd2016.pdf.

The mini road racing is managed by the Ohio Mini Roadracing League. While the mini road racing is not part of the national championship program, the top riders in each class will be recognized based on the cumulative points earned during both days of competition. Mini road racing information is available here: http://omrlmoto.com/ama-vmd-race/.

The AMA also will be holding the AMA Pit Bike TT Friday afternoon and evening in the infield. Classes are available for 50cc-90cc and 91cc-125cc trail bikes. Registration information is here: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=vw9ldxbab&oeidk=a07ecna5ch3ac5ffc51.

For 2016, with the generous support of Suzuki Motor of America, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days honors the career of Suzuki rider and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Wes Cooley. The infield display, Celebrating 40 Years of AMA Superbikes, presented by Suzuki, will showcase the rich history of AMA Superbike racing with a number of historic championship-winning machines. The central piece of the display will be Cooley’s 1980 championship-winning GS1000, which Cooley will ride in demonstration laps around the road race course each day.

The weekend includes the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Bike Show presented by Old Bike Barn, the American Motor Drome Wall of Death, a classic motorcycle field meet, demo rides of current production bikes, seminars, live music, raffle bikes and displays of AMA clubs and custom bike builders.

Tickets are available for purchase on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course website at www.midohio.com or at the gate. A weekend pass is $60, a single-day admission for Friday or Saturday is $40 and a single-day admission for Sunday is $35. Kids 12 and under get in free.
