KTM is recalling 2015-2016 1290 Super Adventures because of potential oil leaks from the rear shock. The recall campaign affects 1,238 units in the U.S.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, oil may leak from the rebound damping plug on the rear shock. This may damage the interior of the shock, resulting in loss of rear suspension. KTM says the problem was caused by improperly calibrated software for semi-active suspension system.

KTM dealers will inspect recalled units and update the suspension control unit software. If necessary, dealers will also replace the rear shock unit.
