Hayes Podiums, Beaubier Fourth In MotoAmerica Superbike Race 2 At COTA

Four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes, who was the third-place finisher fromSaturday’s MotoAmerica Superbike Race 1, also reached the podium in Sunday’s Race 2, while defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier was fourth despite briefly running off the track early in the race at the Circuit of The Americas.

The Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Superbike tandem started from the second row, with Josh lined up fourth and Cameron gridded right next to his teammate. Both riders got off to a good start, and Cameron was battling for the lead until his fortunes changed when he went off the track.

As Cameron worked his way back toward the front again, Josh was in third where he ran a quiet, yet solid, race to finish out the weekend with two podium results.

“I don’t have a good excuse. I just got beat today,” commented Josh. “That was the best that I had. It’s no secret that I struggled here all weekend long. But, I’m happy that I get another shot at those boys in just a few days when we’re at Road Atlanta.”

Cameron said, “We struggled with a lot of things this weekend, and I feel a little bit snake-bitten. At the start of the race, I really didn’t feel comfortable at all. I guess I just want to put this one behind me. I’m definitely looking forward to going to Road Atlanta where I did well last year. And I’m glad that it’s next weekend because all I want to do is get back out there, work hard, and get some better results. I’m determined, and my whole team is determined, to get back to winning races.”

The Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Factory Racing team will travel to Road Atlanta for Round Two of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, coming up this weekend.
