The Peninsula Signature Events, a division of The Peninsula Hotels, has announced May 14, 2016 as the date of The Quail Motorcycle Gathering.

The festivities will begin on Friday, May 13, 2016 with The Quail Ride, a 100-mile group motorcycle ride throughout the Monterey Peninsula. The celebration continues on Saturday, May 14, 2016 as attendees gather on the Quail Lodge & Golf Club lawn for the 8th Annual The Quail Motorcycle Gathering. Gates open to ticket holders at 10:00am, and media will be able to preview the event grounds beginning at 9:00am.

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of BMW Motorcycles this year.

With more than 300 of the world’s finest and rarest vintage and modern motorcycles on display, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering draws guests from around the world to join in the celebration of two wheels. Entrants will be competing in a number of categories, including this year’s featured classes of Pre-1916 Motorcycles, Extraordinary Bicycles, BMW Classics, and the 40th Anniversary of Superbike. The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is pleased to honor three-time AMA Superbike National Champion Reg Pridmore as its Legend of the Sport. Pridmore gained valuable experience in the California club racing circuit before the AMA first recognized Superbike as a National Championship event in 1976. Pridmore went on to not only win the 1976 Superbike Championship, but also firmly established himself as a future AMA Hall of Famer by defending his title in 1977 and 1978. In the years since retiring from professional racing, Reg turned his energy towards the next generation of motorcyclists by starting CLASS Motorcycle Schools.

This year's Legend of the Sport is Reg Pridmore, winner of the first AMA Superbike National Championship in 1976.

With live entertainment, lifestyle vendors, a signature beverage pavilion, and a dedicated kids area, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is a true celebration of motorcycling. Entry includes a gourmet barbecue lunch, parking, and gear valet service for those riding a motorcycle to the event.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
