From an AMA press release.

Hundreds of amateur motorcycle and all-terrain-vehicle hill climbers will compete at the 2016 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship July 29-31 in Neoga, Ill. The event is hosted by the Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club.

“AMA Hillclimbers wait all year for the chance to conquer the hill,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “Only the elite will become AMA National Champions and prove they are best of the best.”

In addition to chasing AMA National Champion status, racers will contest for AMA Hillclimb Racer of the Year, AMA ATV Hillclimb Racer of the Year and Youth Hillclimb Racer of the Year.

The King of the Hill award also will be given to the fastest competitor in a run-off. To receive the honor, riders with the 10 fastest times during the weekend will compete in a one-run class at the end of the program on Sunday.

“It is great to hear that Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club is building a new hillclimb facility in Neoga, Ill., to host the 2016 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship,” said Mike Bronk, AMA track racing commission member and nine-time AMA amateur hillclimb national champion. “The last time I remember the AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship being held in Illinois was in 1988.

“Be sure to mark July 29-31 on your calendar, as is should be a great weekend to see competitors set records on the new hill,” Bronk said.

Tech inspection and rider check-in is noon to 6 p.m. Friday, July 29. Competition begins at 8 a.m.Saturday, July 30, and Sunday, July 31.

No entries will be accepted the day of the event. Registration opens March 1 at www.pleasureriders.net and is available through July 1.

Competitors get free weekend gate passes. Weekend gate passes are available for non-competitors for $20. Children ages 5 and younger are free. Onsite camping is available for $50 per vehicle.

Hillclimb is one of the AMA’s oldest racing disciplines, dating to the early 1900s. The country’s best amateur motorcycle and ATV hill climbers will attempt to reach the top of the hill, each determined to get the fastest time.
