Ducati is celebrating its best ever year with a record 54,800 motorcycles sold through 2015, a 22% increase over 2014.

The U.S. remains Ducati’s largest market, with sales up increasing by 14% compared to 2014. The Italian brand also declared significant sales increases across Europe including a 53% increase in its home market, a 37% increase in the U.K., a 24% increase in Germany and a 22% increase in France.

Sales were also up 14% in the Asian Pacific region including a 46% growth in China. The Chinese sales results are particularly interesting, as Ducati ended its partnership with its local importer Jet Sky Development on Dec. 31, handing distribution over to parent company Audi‘s Chinese subsidiary.

Ducati’s best-selling model is the Scrambler which contributed 16,000 units to the ledger in 2015, or about 29.1% of all Ducati sales. Ducati says the Scrambler was one of the top 10 best-selling motorcycles in the world through the year, the first time a Ducati has reached that honor. The Multistrada 1200 was second with 8,000 units followed by the Monster 821 at 6,500 units. Ducati says the 1299 Panigale, 899 Panigale and Diavel also had strong sales in 2015.

“This impressive performance, a landmark one for Ducati, confirms the soundness of the strategy of expansion and consolidation in global markets and highlights the energy and professionalism of the over 700 dealers who cover no less than 90 countries”, says Andrea Buzzoni, global sales and marketing director of Ducati Motor Holding. “Such growth confirms, in the vast majority of countries, the validity of both our products and our strategy: indeed, for the first time in Ducati’s history, one of our bikes, the Ducati Scrambler, made it into the ‘Top 10’ list of the world’s best-selling bikes.”
