Reigning MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo has ended his relationship with helmet manufacturer HJC, signing a three-year contract with Shark. Lorenzo will continue to wear his signature “Round The Outside” X logo but starting this year, the symbol will be on a Shark Race-R PRO helmet instead of HJC’s RPHA.

Lorenzo ends his deal with HJC after having helmet issues in two races this season. At the opening round in Qatar, the foam lining of Lorenzo’s helmet came loose, obscuring his vision. Later at the wet Silverstone round, Lorenzo said he had trouble seeing because his helmet’s visor kept fogging up.

Lorenzo switched to HJC helmets in 2013, after winning the 2012 MotoGP title. Before that, Lorenzo wore Nolan X-Lite helmets.
