Indian Motorcycles is recalling 2015-2016 Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Roadmaster and Dark Horse motorcycles (or basically, all non-Scout models) due to a problem with the rear brakes. The recall affects 7,611 motorcycles in the U.S.

On certain motorcycles, the primary cup seal on the rear master cylinder may tear, causing a drop in hydraulic pressure. This can cause a reduction or complete loss of rear brake power, increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash.

Indian dealers will inspect recalled motorcycles and replace the rear brake master cylinder piston assembly.
