The 2016 Husqvarna 701 Enduro shares a lot of components with the Supermoto including a modified version of the KTM 690 Duke‘s big thumper. As with the 701 Supermoto, Husky’s take on the engine claims 65 hp at 7000 rpm and 49.4 lb-ft. at 6500 rpm. The 690cc Single uses a single overhead cam with lightweight 40mm hollow stem steel intake valves and 34 mm exhaust valves.

The engine uses two spark plugs, each working on its own ignition control timing to optimize fuel combustion. The 701 models come with ride-by-wire throttle and three selectable maps (European markets receive a fourth power-restricted mode making it legal for use by A2 license holders.) The engine delivers power through a six-speed transmission. Husqvarna added an Adler slipper clutch it says helps maximize rear wheel grip during hard acceleration, allowing for greater speeds going in and exiting from corners while reducing rear wheel instability and chatter during hard braking.

The engine is mounted in a similar chrome-molybdenum steel tubular space frame as the one used on the Supermoto. For the Enduro, Husqvarna opted for more off-road capable suspension from WP. Up front, the 701 Enduro uses a 48mm upside-down closed cartridge 4CS fork that can be adjusted via dials at the top of the fork tubes. The four-chamber fork and the linked WP rear monoshock both offer 275 mm of travel compared to the 215mm at the front and and 250mm at the rear for the Supermoto.

Along with the increased suspension travel comes larger wheels – a 21-inch wheel up front and an 18-incher at the back. The wheels use black DID aluminum alloy rims with silver spoke nipples and come standard with Continental TKC 80 tires. The front wheel is equipped with a 300mm brake router, gripped by a Brembo two-piston floating caliper while a single-piston caliper is matched to the 240mm disc at the rear. Bosch supplies the ABS with special settings for off-road use.

Other features include hand guards, CNC-machined triple clamps, a tall 35.8-inch seat height and a 3.6-gallon fuel tank integrated into the rear subframe.

Pricing has not been announced at this time.
