This year, the Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Riders will hold their second annual Turkey Ride, Sunday, November 22 at the Snapper Creek Service Plaza in Miami, Florida. Last year, the Turkey Ride collected over 1,300 pounds in turkeys and this year the goal is to collect even more.

According to MSAR, more than 26% of children (141,000) and over 380,000 adults in Miami-Dade county don’t know where their next meal is going to come from. MSAR is working to try and reduce those numbers.

Those interested may participate in the ride by donating directly via this link, participating in the ride, or visiting the VFW in Homestead, Florida the day of the event. Participants are asked to bring at least one turkey (more are welcome) or a cash donation of $20, though the turkey is preferred. More details can be found in the flyer below.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
