Some race pundits contend you should look to World Superbike if you want to know who’s got the best-funded, most factory-connected team. And look to World Superstock 1000 if you want to know who’s got the best motorcycle. The last race of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, held at Magny-Cours, France, last weekend, saw Italian Lorenzo Savadori take the championship aboard his Aprilia RSV4 RF.

Over the course of the eight-round series, the Team Nuova M2 rider earned four first-place finishes and three podiums to ice the championship with a 22-point advantage over his nearest rival. Aprilia also earned the Manufacturer Title with 176 points – 34 more than BMW, 39 over Ducati, 64 in front of Yamaha and 118 more than Kawasaki.

Congrats to Savadori and Aprilia, and hats off to MO for almost picking the RF as our Superbike of the Year, if only it had had cruise control and heated grips….
