From an AMA press release:

The U.S. team of Justin Barcia from Greenville, Fla., Jeremy Martin from Millville, Minn., and Cooper Webb from Newport, N.C., finished second at the 2015 FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernee, France, on Sept. 27.

“Congratulations to France for winning the 2015 FIM Motocross of Nations,” said AMA Chief Operations Officer Jeff Massey. “The U.S. team’s second place finish is phenomenal and we are honored to have had Justin, Jeremy and Cooper representing our country at one of the most challenging competitions on the world level. We also thank AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Roger DeCoster for managing the team.”

In individual results, Barcia, who races for Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX, won the MXGP individual overall by finishing first and third in his motos. Martin and Webb, who both race for Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha, finished second in their individual class overalls. Martin took fifth in both MX2 motos. Webb finished second and sixth in the Open class and also captured the holeshot in his first moto.

“We are incredibly proud of Justin, Jeremy and Cooper for their performances in France,” said Kevin Crowther, AMA director of supercross and pro racing relations. “International efforts like this also wouldn’t be possible without the help of the support crew, sponsors and fans. The U.S. team is very appreciative of Alpinestars, Asterisk, Feld Motor Sports and MX Sports for their support of the team.”

It was a two-team race for the win, and the U.S. team narrowly missed securing the win by just two points. France finished with 14 points, and the Americans tallied with 16. Belgium was a distant third with 56.

Each rider at the FIM Motocross of Nations competes in two motos, each of which combines two classes. Competition includes riders in the MXGP class, which features 450cc bikes; the MX2 class, which includes 250cc motorcycles; and the Open class.

The Motocross of Nations is one of the most high-profile motorsport events in the world. It features national teams competing for a combined score to determine the overall championship-winning country. The event emerged in post-war Europe in 1947 and has run uninterrupted since that time.

The United States last won the Motocross of Nations in 2011 when the event was held in Saint D’Angely, France. The United States is also the all-time leader in Motocross of Nations overall team victories with 22. Great Britain is second with 16.
