Beleaguered Spanish manufacturer Gas Gas continues to look for new ownership to save it from its significant debt, but one prospective new buyer received a less-than-warm welcome from employees during a planned visit to the factory.

According to a report by EnduroPro, officials from KTM planned a visit earlier this week as the Austrian manufacturer considers adding Gas Gas’ trials bikes to its already impressive off-road portfolio. Gas Gas employees were waiting for the prospective white knight (or perhaps in this case, an orange knight?) with two stacks of burning tires and an effigy dressed in a KTM shirt.

If that weren’t clear enough, employees also put up signs in German and English saying: “KTM: This is not your house!”

Workers were concerned about the possibility of a KTM buyout after seeing what happened with Husqvarna. After KTM acquired Husky, it took operations from Italy to its home base of Austria.

KTM is not the only company considering acquiring Gas Gas. MV Agusta has also been linked to the company.
