Today, the American Motorcyclist Association noted the passing of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Carroll Resweber and offered its condolences to his fans, friends and family.

Initiated in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 1998, Resweber held the record for winning four consecutive AMA Grand National Championships from 1958 to 1961. This record was so daunting that it stood for four decades. What’s truly amazing was that Resweber’s career consisted of a mere six seasons before it was cut short by a racing accident in 1962. In that time he notched 19 AMA national wins on a variety of circuits, ranging from half-miles to miles to road courses.

After recovering from his injuries, Resweber returned to work for Harley-Davidson, where he stayed until he retired in 1992. Resweber passed away on May 8, 2015, at the age of 79.

Like most of the best happenings in his life, Evans stumbled into his motojournalism career. While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.
