Ducati is recalling 5,962 Multistrada 1200 models from 2010-2014 because of a problem that could prevent the throttle from fully closing.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the inner sleeve of the opening throttle bowden cable could become disengaged and prevent the throttle from closing, increasing the risk of a rider losing control and crashing. Multistradas experiencing this problem may have stiffer-than-usual throttle rotation.

Ducati says it has received three field reports about throttle tightness. Fortunately, no injuries or accidents were reported.

Authorized dealers will replace the upper throttle cover with a new component designed to prevent this problem.
