All Harley-Davidson lovers know where the Harley-Davidson Museum is, and they certainly know of the role Willie G. Davidson played at the motor company – though they might not be able to tell you the exact wording of his official title. (Chief Styling Officer Emeritus and Brand Ambassador, in case you ever get asked.)

Starting this summer, visitors to the H-D Museum can learn even more about Willie G. through previously unseen historical items from his personal collection, which the museum says will “provide insight into his unique perspective, personal style, creative process, inspiration and influences.” The exhibition, entitled Willie G. Davidson: Artist, Designer, Leader, Legend, will be housed in the museum’s Garage special event space and feature ”one-of-a-kind vehicles, original designs, art, rare artifacts and media” to give viewers an in depth understanding about the life and legacy of Willie G.

Without Willie G. spending 49 years as a force within Harley-Davidson, the iconic brand probably wouldn’t be the powerhouse it is today. Who knows, perhaps there wouldn’t even be a Harley if not for Willie G. and 12 other executives who raised over $75 million to reclaim the name from AMF Incorporated. Anyone who is interested in the history of the famed marque should make a point to visit this show.

Like most of the best happenings in his life, Evans stumbled into his motojournalism career. While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.
