Earlier this month, the AMA and MotoAmerica released a preliminary set of rules for the various classes in the 2015 roadracing season (then later, announced some tweaks to the rules). The classes and rule structure were designed to more closely resemble the rules outlined in other national series and the World Superbike championship. The rules have yet to outline what is and is not allowed in the KTM RC390 Cup, but is otherwise a relatively complete set of guidelines for teams to get started with their 2015 preparations.

However, as with any rulebook, there’s a lot of technical jargon to sort through. Here to condense the rules into an approximately five minute explanation is Greg White. In this video, provided by the American Motorcyclist Association, White gives a quick run down of each class, and why the new rules package should benefit the future of American roadracing.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
