2015 Victory Models Recalled for Transmission Issue

Polaris is recalling a small batch of 2015 Victory motorcycles because of a problem that can cause the transmission to unexpectedly shift gears or drop into neutral. The recall affects the 2015 Cross Country, Cross Country 8-Ball, Cross Country Tour, Gunner, Hammer 8-Ball, High Ball, Magnum, Vegas 8-Ball and Vision Tour, though only 122 units manufactured between Aug. 11 and Sept. 2 are afflicted with the problem.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the transmission shift drum detent roller springs on the affected motorcycles may not have been installed correctly. The poorly-installed detent arm return springs may cause the transmission to unexpectedly change or drop out of gear, potentially causing a rider to lose control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Victory has put a stop sale on affected vehicles, and dealers will inspect and correctly install the springs on motorcycles in their inventory. Only four units have been warranty registered, and Victory is contacting their owners to alert them of the issue.
