This past weekend at the Barber Vintage Festival, Triumph took the wraps off a special edition Thruxton that was created with the famed Ace Café London. Harkening back to one of the lynchpins of the British café racer movement of the 1960s, the Thruxton Ace Café Special Edition molds the profile of the classic Triumph racer of the era to the thoroughly modern Thruxton.

Sporting an eye-catching white paint scheme adorned with Ace Café logos, the Special Edition also adds authentic bar-end mirrors plus a commemorative handlebar plaque. The seat also receives a detachable hump on a sculpted Oxblood custom seat for a period-authentic sexy, solo seat look – until the need to carry a passenger arises. The rest of the Thruxton Ace Café Special Edition is pure Thruxton from the 865 cc parallel twin to the spoked wheels. Triumph says that only 325 Thruxton Ace Café Special Editions are destined for our side of the pond in the US market. Riders who are interested should contact their local Triumph dealer and expect delivery by December 2014. Price has not been set.

While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.
