Harley-Davidson Museum's Custom Bike Show Weekend on Labor Day
Labor Day weekend 2014, the place for Harley-Davidson fans to be is at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Starting Thursday, August 28 at 5:00 PM, the biggest bike night of the riding season kicks off the event-filled weekend. The holiday gathering will also include two custom bike shows, a women’s ride, displays of the 2015 Harley-Davidson Models, and the last chance to see the H-D Museum’s summer show entitled The American Road.
Some of the events are:
Thursday, Aug. 28 – 5:00 PM – Bike Night: Featuring live music, food, drink, and special extended museum hours for riders and non-riders alike.
Friday, Aug. 29 – 9:00–10:30 AM – Milwaukee Rally Women’s Ride: Limited to the first 111 riders who register, the annual ride begins at the H-D Museum and travels along the Lake Michigan shore to Holy Hill. Staging begins at 9:00, and the ride departs at 10:30. Register for $22 at www.milwaukeerally.com.
Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 – 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM The Invitational Pro Class Custom Bike Show: See custom motorcycles created by some of the best professional bike builders in the country. The categories shown will be: FreeStyle, MOD Harley, Custom BAGGER and Custom RETRO. Awards will be handed out Sunday at 4:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.
Sunday, Aug. 31 – 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM – The 6th Annual H-D Museum Custom Bike Show: Anyone who has a custom Harley that they want to show off on the museum grounds and possibly win the coveted Willie G. Davidson Award should go to the Custom Bike Show Weekend website and sign up! There will be 11 classes of bikes open for judging. Registration closes on August 22.
All Weekend – 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; (8:00 PM Thursday, Aug. 28):
- The Harley-Davidson New Product Trailer with the new 2015 Harley-Davidson models.
- Custom culture artisans offer demonstrations of their craft and have products available for purchase.
- Live outdoor entertainment and plenty of food and beverage.

Like most of the best happenings in his life, Evans stumbled into his motojournalism career. While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.
