The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and the World Superbike Championship released an updated schedule for the 2014 season, dropping the Sept. 21 Russian round and tentatively slotting Qatar in the season-ending Nov. 2 round.

WSBK promoter Dorna and its Russian partners DWO and YMS Promotion released a statement saying the Moscow Raceway round was cancelled as a result of the political tensions between Russia and the Ukraine. Event organizer hope Moscow Raceway will return for the 2015 season and the remainder of its contract with WSBK which runs until 2021.

Meanwhile, the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar, has tentatively been added to the calendar, taking the previously labelled “Overseas” round scheduled for Nov. 2. The Doha round is still subject to final confirmation however, but if all the pieces fall into place, it will host the WSBK and World Supersport classes.
