Transport Canada announced a recall for the BMW F800S and F800ST from model years 2006-2009 because of a problem with the rear wheel. At the moment, the recall has only been confirmed for Canada; we will provide an update if a recall for the U.S. is announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

According to Transport Canada, the rear wheel bearing on certain F800S and F800ST models may wear abnormally, causing some play in the rear wheel assembly. This may lead to a reduced rear wheel speed when the motorcycle is coasting (e.g. either moving with the engine off or when the clutch lever engaged), potentially affecting handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

BMW dealers will inspect the rear wheel bearings on affected motorcycles and replace them with an updated bearing if necessary. The recall affects 596 units in Canada.
