Zero Motorcycles is recalling the 2011-2012 Zero S and Zero DS because their front brake caliper mounting bolts may be susceptible to corrosion.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected units were assembled with incorrect grade front caliper mounting bolts.

These bolts may experience stress corrosion through environmental corrosion, potentially causing them to fracture. Such a situation could cause the caliper to come loose and interfere with the rotation of the front wheel, perhaps causing it to suddenly stop spinning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Zero dealers will replace the front caliper bolts on recalled units. The recall campaign affects 268 units.
