Honda to Sponsor and Compete in 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

American Honda announced it will be a partnering sponsor for the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb while also entering the competition, racing in nine different classes (well, seventh, plus “Exhibition” entries in both car and motorcycle categories).

Honda R&D staff, engineers, test riders and drivers will compete in car, motorcycle and ATV categories. Honda will field a record ten entries in all, with nine different vehicles including the CBR1000RR, CBR600RR, CRF450R and CRF250R. Honda IndyCar team Schmidt Hamilton HP Motorsports driver Simon Pagenaud will also compete, though his vehicle and class will be announced at a later date.“Pikes Peak presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase Honda’s diverse product lineup and to energize Honda fans around world, as we work to further strengthen Honda’s presence in racing at all levels,” says Mike Accavitti , senior vice president of automotive operations for American Honda. “Our associates will be working hard between now and Race Day to prepare this diverse field of race vehicles and showcase the Honda racing spirit.”

Support will be provided by Honda R&D Americas, Inc., and Honda Performance Development, Inc. As a partnering sponsor for the event, Honda will also provide race operations with generators and lighting from its Power Equipment division for pits and staging areas.

The 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb runs June 30. For the first time, the race will be streamed online on http://www.redbull.tv/.
