The Bell Custom 500 Helmet As Art [Video]

Bell’s retro styled Custom 500 helmet was put on display as part of The One Motorcycle art exhibit recently held in Portland, Ore.

The helmet exhibit, titled 21 Helmets, featured, as the name implies, 21 helmets getting the treatment from 21 different artists that, as the show’s curator Thor Drake says, weren’t “all motorcycle dudes.” The variety of artistic interpretations of a helmet as a blank canvas resulted in some crafty works that included a paint-by-numbers theme, embroidery work to the helmet interior and even a helmet that was tattooed. Yes, tattooed.

Regrettably the motorcycle-centric art show lasted only a day or so.

Let’s hope that Bell will take a risk and incorporate some of the artists’ works as production designs for the Custom 500.
