BMW Motorrad reported a 7.4% growth in U.S. sales in 2011, nearly double the growth reported in the previous year. The 7.4% growth is also higher than the overall worldwide growth of 6.4% BMW recently announced.

While the R1200GS remains BMW’s best seller internationally, it’s the S1000RR that tops BMW U.S.A.’s sales chart. BMW’s entire R range, including the GS, GS Adventure and the R1200RT were also popular with American consumers, as were the new six-cylinder BMW K1600GT and K1600GTL sport-touring models.

“BMW had successfully weathered the downturn in the motorcycle market in recent years,” says Mac McMath, National Sales Manager, BMW Motorrad USA. “Now, with market conditions improving and the arrival of new and updated models, we are poised for continued success in 2012.”

BMW credits improving market conditions, a broad product lineup and the strength of its dealer network for the positive results.
