Öhlins USA announced its AMA Supercross and Motocross team will use the KTM 250 SX-F for the 2012 season.

Team Öhlins will enter three riders in the 250 class for both the indoor Supercross and outdoor Motocross championships. Öhlins has already announced 21-year-old Les Smith of York, S.C., as one of its riders (pictured above on the KTM.

Öhlins has yet to officially announce its other two riders but team manager Grant Langston named Taylor Futrell (pictured above, right) of North Carolina and 2010 Lites West Arenacross Champion A.J. Catanzaro from Connecticut as the team’s riders on his Twitter account.

The team had originally been planning on using the Honda CRF250 before Langston, who owns a KTM dealership, set up a test on the 250 SX-F and the team decided to make the switch.

“We were presented with a number of options but we unanimously, through testing, chose to go with KTM,” says Langston. “After testing at a variety of tracks the team as a whole wanted KTM: all the riders agreed, the crew, everyone. That creates a shared confidence, which is a great boost for starting the season.”
