“Popular Science” magazine has named the Brammo Empulse to its annual “Best of What’s New” awards. The Empulse is one of 100 winners chosen and one of 11 (and the only motorcycle) named in the automotive category.

The Brammo Empulse 10.0 (MSRP $13,995) was commended for its 100 mph top speed and 100 mile range claims. Powered by a 57hp motor with a 10 kwh battery, the Empulse claims a charge time of 10 hours from a 110V outlet. Brammo will also offer a 6.0 and 8.0 version with smaller batteries and lower price points.

The electric motor is water-cooled and the Empulse is also equipped with a six-speed transmission, two innovations of the electric motorcycle segment.

Production of the Brammo Empulse is scheduled to start in early 2012. According to Brammo, the company has received pre-orders from nearly 2000 customers.

“This is a true honor and we are delighted to be recognized in this way by Popular Science Magazine,” says Craig Bramscher, founder and chief executive officer of Brammo. “I know the whole Brammo team has worked tirelessly on the Empulse and they will be very excited to hear about winning this prestigious award. We are very much looking forward to seeing the Empulse on streets all across the USA next year.”
