Chicara Nagata's Liquid Chrome display on now
During this time of economic uncertainty, there are many who are tightening their belts and refraining from the purchase of that much sought after and coveted bike of their dreams – myself included. This has driven up the sales and therefore production of more economically feasible transportation options such as lower displacement motorcycles and scooters. There are however other privileged individuals for which money is no object whatsoever. For those fortunate few, get your check book ready, for everyone else; prepare to shake your head in utter disbelief.
Japanese designer Chicara Nagata’s Million Dollar Motorcycles are currently making their way around the world throughout various displays. These are not concepts; these are living, breathing, running motorcycles from the imagination of Chicara Nagata brought to life by his team of craftsmen.
Combining elements of the past with visions of the future, Chicara’s has created four distinct models. Using Harley Davidson engines as a base, the other 500 parts used are individually and carefully handcrafted. The bikes will be on display at the Ippodo Gallery in NYC from November 7 to January 31, 2009.
