A middleweight sporty-bike without the backache

For a couple of decades now, the Suzuki SV650 has been a fixture in Twins racing classes, but for 2024, Suzuki's newest two-cylinder sportbike has been homologated for the MotoAmerica Twins Cup. The fully faired GSX-8R will be eligible for the 2024 Twins Cup, as is its naked sibling, the GSX-8S.

As enthusiasts, we are in a golden era of motorcycling, rife for choices backed with technology that makes it so much easier to own and ride.

Naked motorcycles of varying sizes have come out in force to the value category of our MOBOs for the past decade. Last year, an adventure bike stirred up the pot of naked domination. This year, we’re seeing Suzuki come in with a solid competitor from each class with its new 800 platform in the V-Strom 800 DE and GSX-8S. At $9k for the 8S and $11,600 for the Strom DE, both motorcycles represent an excellent value in their specific categories.

Suzuki announced a new model to its GSX-S1000 lineup, adding a crossover motorcycle that bridges the gap between a sport-tourer and an adventure bike. We previously uncovered evidence of the bike under its codename GSX-S1000X, and we now know it will be marketed as the GSX-S1000GX. And if that name isn’t already a bit of a tongue-twister, in the U.S. it’ll be called the GSX-S1000GX+.

With Suzuki's recent announcement that it was adding more road-going versions of its new V-Strom 800 to the lineup, we thought it a good time to look back into the MO archives and read up on the OG V-Strom – the one with the 650 V-Twin also used in the SV650. So, in this Church feature, we look back at Sean Alexander's ride aboard a first-generation V-Strom 650. Sean being Sean, it even comes with an obligatory wheelie shot, too.

Suzuki has officially announced what we confirmed back in June – it’s adding more road-focused models to its V-Strom 800 lineup. Suzuki now offers four V-Stroms: the 800DE, 800DE Adventure, 800, and 800 Touring. The two new models follow suit with what we have seen in the 1050 line for some time.

Road-going V-Strom coming for 2024

The Suzuki GSX-8S will soon be joined by a GSX-8R sportbike, according to new certification data published in Switzerland.

Certification details for a new Suzuki GSX-S1000X model have been published in Switzerland, hinting at a GSX-S1000GT variant that could be a potential competitor to the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and Yamaha Tracer 9 GT.

We're looking at a whole bunch of bold new graphics for the remainder of the 2024 Suzuki lineup.
